What is Laser Vision Correction?

How will my eyes be assessed?
The pathway to this treatment normally involves three health professionals. The first step is the patient’s optometrist or general practitioner delivering a referral. The patient then attends the eye surgery clinic where an orthoptist undertakes a full vision assessment, including an assessment of their current need for spectacles and/or contact lens. Finally, the patient sees an ophthalmologist.
When should I have Laser Vision Correction?
Glasses and contact lenses provide excellent vision for many people. Those who are happy with these arrangements should continue with them. Others, however, find these aids inconvenient and are interested in the option of laser vision correction.
How much does Laser Eye Surgery cost?
The cost of laser eye surgery is highly dependent on the surgeon’s training and experience and type of procedure selected. New technology allows better treatment and improved patient outcomes. Although some higher level private health insurance policies do cover laser eye surgery with no out of pocket expense, most don’t.
